Our G1 Optimus Prime uses the same die-cast zinc alloy we specified in 1984 for the torso, thighs, and feet. This metal construction gives the figure substantial weight and durability that plastic-only releases can’t match — you feel the quality the moment you pick him up.
The cab and trailer body use high-impact ABS plastic with UV-resistant pigments that preserve the signature red and blue hues. Chrome plating on the smokestacks, fuel tanks, and grill went through our original five-stage electroplating process for mirror-finish durability. Transformation system & play features
The 22-step conversion sequence remains exactly as we designed it in ’84. Start by removing the fists and storing them in the trailer’s side compartments. Fold the cab roof forward, extend the legs from the truck chassis, and rotate the arms out from their highway position. The waist joint locks with an audible click when you’ve achieved proper alignment.
Trailer compatibility
The detachable trailer connects via twin hitch pins and houses a fully functional repair bay with flip-out diagnostic screen. The drone launcher on the trailer roof fires two small yellow scout drones up to 3 feet — a play pattern we’ve kept from the original mold. Both cab and trailer feature rolling wheels with metal axles.
Weapon accessories & storage
We include the full accessory suite: the ion blaster with 5mm grip post, the double-bladed energon axe, and the pair of removable fists that swap out for weapon-holding hands. The blaster stores in either hand or clips to the side of the trailer during truck mode.
The fists use the same friction-grip socket design from 1984 — they pop on and off with firm pressure but stay secure during posing. Every weapon features the original gray ABS molding with subtle panel line detail. These aren’t reproduction accessories — we pulled them from the same steel tooling we’ve maintained since the G1 era.
